New Technologies for Clinical Research

Chair: Franco Schiannini

The working group plans to focus on innovative technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), in silico studies, virtual patients, digital twins, predictive models, and other advanced digital solutions.

These tools are transforming the field of clinical research, providing opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and accelerate the development of innovative therapies.

The WG’s main objectives are:

Analysis of new technologies: Identify, evaluate and demystify emerging technologies (AI, computational models, simulations, etc.) and their impact on clinical research.

Best Practice Sharing: Create a forum for the exchange of experiences, knowledge and success stories among member companies.
Training and awareness: Organize webinars, workshops and training sessions to spread awareness and skills needed for the adoption of these technologies.

Collaboration with external stakeholders: Engage institutions, universities, research centers and regulatory authorities to foster constructive dialogue and promote innovation in the industry.

Proposed guidelines and standards: Develop recommendations for the ethical and regulated implementation of new technologies in clinical research.

The group represents an opportunity to explore and learn about new Italian companies operating in this field that would be difficult to intercept by moving individually. It also represents an opportunity for the association to position itself as a reference point in the clinical research landscape, fostering innovation and competitiveness of member companies. It also enables the association to anticipate market trends and actively contribute to the definition of shared standards and practices.

For member companies, particularly those of small/medium/small/micro size, this group represents a valuable tool for staying abreast of the investments that larger and international companies are, surely, already making in this area.
